It's a Merry Christmas! The 2024 Lisbon Christmas Parade Raised Over $37,000 to Feed the Hungry!

Lisbon, Maryland . April 18, 2025 |  The Lisbon Christmas Parade Committee is celebrating the continued success of Making Christmas Merry with The 2024 Great Lisbon FARMERS FEED THE HUNGRY Christmas Parade which took place on late last year on Saturday, December 14! 

What an amazing day it was in historic Town of Lisbon for our 14th annual parade! The Town was abuzz with the hustle and bustle of preparations. Equestrians were adorning their horses, getting ready to ride, farmers on tractors with floats full of elves, were rallying. Folks arrived early to get the best spot for viewing the parade. And, Days End Farm Horse Rescue's Santa Village was a great gathering area where people could shop, eat and enjoy "Reindeer Rides" before and after the parade!​

Tremendous Turnout!

The Lisbon Christmas Parade Committee and Howard County Farm Bureau are delighted to announce that The 2024 Great Lisbon FARMERS FEED THE HUNGRY Christmas Parade continues to be a  tremendous success!   
​
The 14th annual parade brought out the most participants and patrons we've ever seen!​ An estimated 3,500 parade patrons lined the route in anticipation of the parade! 

In the spirit of the season, our local farmers and equestrians used their creative talents to showcase their tractors, horses, goats, dogs and more. With nearly 35 local farmers from Howard and Carroll counties, and beyond drove their festively decorated tractors and farm equipment, and antique farm trucks in the parade. More than 150 horses, under saddle and pulling carriages and wagons, proudly made there way up the parade route! 

​In addition, Days End Farm Horse Rescue held their annual Santa's Village with "Reindeer Rides" which  drew vendors attracting  patrons to do their holiday shopping and find some delicious treats.

The Numbers Are In!

​The numbers are in! Thanks to you - our community sponsors and tractor and equine participants - the  parade raised a phenomenal record-breaking . . . 37,533!

​
Our beneficiaries were presented  at the Annual Howard County Farm  Bureau's  Spring Legislative Dinner held on April 17th.  
​
  • $11,259.90  to theHoward County Food Bank 
  • $11,259.90 to the Carroll County Food Sunday
  • $7,506.60 to the Farmers & Hunters Feeding the Hungry
  • $7,506.60  to the Lisbon Volunteer Fire Company

​In addition, over 3,850 pounds of nonperishable food was collected and donated to feed the local food banks in Howard and Carroll counties!

The 2025 Friend of the Farmer Award

​Annually for the past several years, The Howard County Farm Bureau has recognized locals who are friends of the farmer. The 2025 Friend of the Farmer Award and accompanying golden Pitch Fork  went to the Lisbon Christmas Parade Chair, Carey McIntosh. The award reads, "In Honor of Carey McIntosh - Friend of the Farmer 2025 -  In recognition of the good work you have done for the farmers of Howard County Maryland."

Carey and the entire McIntosh family have been tremendous supporters of the farming community in many ways.  Carey, in particular, has chaired the parade since 2019.  Carey and Kathleen McIntosh run their family farm, Royal Hollow Farm, a grass-fed beef and equine boarding facility with a 15 stall barn and an indoor arena. Carey has been an integral member of the Lisbon Volunteer Fire Company serving in several positions over the years, including Chief.

The Great Lisbon FARMERS FEED THE HUNGRY Christmas Parade presented by The Howard County Farm Bureau,  benefits The Howard County Food Bank, Carroll County Food Sunday, Farmers & Hunters Feeding the Hungry, and Lisbon Volunteer Fire Company. Since its inception in 2011, the parade has raised more than $232,000 to date for the parade’s beneficiaries and some 54,000 of pounds of nonperishable canned food donated to our local food banks in Howard and Carroll counties.

The 2024 Great Lisbon FARMERS FEED THE HUNGRY Christmas Parade - formerly known as The Lisbon Christmas Horse Parade - will kick off at 12 noon in the historic town of Lisbon, (Woodbine) Maryland, on Sat., Dec. 14, 2024

​Festively decorated tractors driven by local farmers will lead the parade followed by up to 250 seasonally adorned horses (both ridden and driven) along the parade route down the Old National Road (Frederick Road), Route 144.

​The Lisbon Christmas Parade is presented by the Howard County Farm Bureau in partnership with the Carroll County Farm Bureau annually on the second Sat. of Dec. It benefits the Howard County Food Bank, Carroll County Food Sunday, Farmers & Hunters Feeding the Hungry and the Lisbon Volunteer Fire Company.

Parade patrons are invited to shop for the season at the Days End Farm Horse Rescue's Santa Village  before and after the parade, 10 a.m. -12 noon and 1 p.m. and 3 pm and enjoy "Reindeer" Rides from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.  to 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.

Since 2011, the Parade has raised over $195,000 and collected many thousands of pounds of food to feed the local food insecure in our communities. In 2023, the parade raised over $19,000. This year we are hoping to raise well over $25,000!

GET INVOLVED: Wanted! Farmers with tractors and farm equipment, equestrians riding saddle horses or driving carriage horses, plus SPONSORS and NON-PERISHABLE CANNED FOOD DRIVE LEADERS!

THINGS TO NOTE FOR THE 2024 PARADE: The parade begins at 12:00 noon. Arrive early to secure parking and the best spot along the parade route.  Stay and enjoy the town, eat at The Grill and enjoy the Santa Village. For your safety and the safety of our parade participants, patrons are requested to stay along the side and are not enter the parade route.  Note that Frederick Road (Route 144) and nearby roads along the parade route will be closed at 11:30 am and will remain closed until after all the horses have made it back to their original staging areas.

In the spirit of the season, our local farmers and equestrians used their creative talents to showcase their tractors, horses, goats, dogs and more. With nearly 35 local farmers from Howard and Carroll counties, and beyond drove their festively decorated tractors and farm equipment, and antique farm trucks in the parade. More than 125 horses, under saddle and pulling carriages and wagons, proudly made there way up the parade route! 

​In addition, Days End Farm Horse Rescue held their annual Santa's Village with "Reindeer Rides" which drew nearly 40 vendors attracting hundreds of patrons to do their holiday shopping and find some delicious treats.

Lisbon, Maryland . April 30, 2023  |  The Lisbon Christmas Parade Committee is celebrating the continued success of Making Christmas Merry with The 2022 Great Lisbon FARMERS FEED THE HUNGRY Christmas Parade which took place on late last year on Saturday, December 10! 

The day began in the mid-20s, but the hustle and bustle in the quiet historic Town of Lisbon began early, warming up with preparations. Equestrians were adorning their horses, getting ready to ride, farmers on tractors with floats full of elves, were rallying. Folks arrived early to get the best spot for viewing the parade. And, Days End Farm Horse Rescue's Santa Village was a great gathering area where people could shop, eat and enjoy "Reindeer Rides" before and after the parade!​

We bounced back festively in 2021 with an immense turnout of parade participants and patrons!​ An estimated 3000 parade patrons lined the route in anticipation of the parade!

The Lisbon Christmas Parade Committee is celebrating the success of The 2020 Great Lisbon FARMERS FEED THE HUNGRY Christmas Parade. We’ve wrapped it up for you below, like a Christmas gift tied with a red ribbon bow!

Believe in the Possibilities! 

The Lisbon Christmas Parade Committee and Howard County Farm Bureau are delighted to announce that The 2020 Great Lisbon FARMERS FEED THE HUNGRY Christmas Parade - Virtual, Reimagined & Online -premiered on New Year's Eve was a tremendous success!   ​

In a year that our landscape was ravaged by the Pandemic presenting many challenges, our mission continued to feed the hungry. We were able to pull off an amazing “virtual” parade full of  local joy! There were some 32 entries represented in the video featuring over 25 decorated tractors and over 100 seasonally adorned saddle and carriage horses. Parade patrons were also able to view some images from parades past!

In the spirit of the season, our local farmers and equestrians used their creative talents to showcase their tractors, horses, cows, dogs and more! Through hosting their own Christmas parades on farms and down local lanes, our parade participants provided their outstanding virtual entries. ​

The Numbers Are In!
The numbers are in! Thanks to you - our community sponsors and tractor and equine participants - the virtual parade raised $19,560! Our beneficiaries will receive:
  • $5,868 to the  Howard County Food Bank 
  • $5,868 to the Carroll County Food Sunday
  • $3,912 to the Farmers & Hunters Feeding the Hungry
  • $3,912 to the Lisbon Volunteer Fire Company​

In addition, nearly 3,000 pounds of nonperishable canned foods was collected and donated to feed the local food banks in Howard and Carroll counties! Thank you to all those who participated in the food drives this parade season!

The Great Lisbon FARMERS FEED THE HUNGRY Christmas Parade presented by The Howard County Farm Bureau,  benefits The Howard County Food Bank, Carroll County Food Sunday, Farmers & Hunters Feeding the Hungry, and Lisbon Volunteer Fire Company. Since its inception in 2011, the parade has raised more than $123,000 to date for the parade’s beneficiaries and collected many thousands of pounds of nonperishable canned food donated to our local food banks in Howard and Carroll counties. ​
